Can you believe that 2015 is coming to a close? I could have sworn it was July last week. Unbelievable how time flies. But as the year is ending, I’m reminded of all those things I told myself I would accomplish, all the goals I set and how my passion and pursuit of those things was so high at the beginning of the year. Then life happened. All those plans got pushed to the back burner and out of my to-do lists, and I’m right where I was this time last year. What about you? What did you defer starting on this year? This month? This week? This day? May this Wednesday Word No. 44, spoken by iconic author Stephen King, remind you that taking that first step (yes, baby steps count) is all it takes to be on your way to fulfilling your wildest dream. It’s daunting, but when you’re brave enough to step out, you’ll be amazed at how that very act will provide momentum for you to get to the next step, and the next and so on. I’m reminded of another quote: “You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.” Friends, you may have tried before and failed. Samesies! It’s perfectly healthy to acknowledge your shortcomings, but at some point you have to get up and try again.
That’s my challenge for me (and for you) this week: Take one tiny step toward completing a task that you’ve lost sight of. I’m talking the big, scary, awesome goals that keep you up at night. If you’d like an accountability partner, let a sister know in the comments section below. We’re in this together! And because I have to put it out into the atmosphere so you know I’m not playing around, my next step is to create an outline for the book I’m working on. There. I said it. Hahaha. Let’s all be great, and not wait until the next calendar year to start!
