Wednesday Word

January 2, 2019

This Wednesday Word No. 109 (the first of 2019!), spotted at Lessons Learned in Life, is a timely reminder as we embark on the new year. Whether you feel like 2018 was kind to you or if it was the meanest year to date, it’s apropos to reflect on how far you’ve come. I personally am using the upsets and challenges from the past year to propel me into this new season. I’ve weathered the storms and am stronger than ever because of it. Give yourself credit for persevering. Alrighty, no more living in the past. Let’s get after 2019! May this new year be your most productive, fulfilling, successful one yet.

I had a wonderful weekend, which included fun times with my bestie, a smashing success of a Halloween costume, brunch with the boo la las, a brisk but beautiful lakeside stroll, local-made ice cream sandwiches, reminiscing about my younger days, great conversation, fake marshmallows and a construction-paper campfire, bad horror movies of the ’80s and ’00s, oodles of laughs and lots of reminders that I am loved, among other things. But me being my typical sensitive Cancer self, I always get sad when it’s time for the fun to end. Can you relate? I was at the Oakland Airport on the verge of tears (which wouldn’t be the first time because goodbyes are the worst) and dreading the week ahead. As cliché as it is, I have to tell myself, “don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.” That Dr. Seuss, getting it right every single time. In the midst of my pity party, something major dawned on me. The best is yet to come! And I don’t mean the fact that I’ll be in Las Vegas this weekend. Think about it, I have so much to look forward to: even more memories to be made with my friends and family, marriage, motherhood, career advancements, the books I have developing in my head, becoming a homeowner, growing old with my guy and so much more. My glory days are still to come, and that makes me very happy and confident about what the future holds. May this Wednesday Word No. 39, courtesy of the darling doodler Eugenia Clara, remind you that even greater things are in store.
