Fancy Things Friday

September 22, 2017

This Fancy Things Friday is in the spirit of protesting the impending start of autumn. Fall Equinox has decided to rear its head and, frankly, I’m not here for it! Get into my last-bit-of-summer looks:

1. Bonita Applebum, you gotta put these Bonita Drop Earrings on. These dainty yet daring earrings feature fringe and a pop of gold, and will add a little flavor to an outfit in need of some oomph. Lucky for you, if you’re not feeling the Yellow ones pictured, they come in a variety of hues, including Cobalt Blue, Fuchsia, Orange and Blush. Talk about fringe benefits. (baublebar.com)

2. These sophistifunky AVA Gem Slingback Shoes are just what the doctor ordered — a burst of sunshine, a la Vitamin D, with a touch of class, thanks to the gemstones. Try these bad boys in black for a more city chic appeal. (topshop.com)

3. The ’90s called and said, “This Acro Unitard in Abstract Floral by Motel is da bomb diggety!” For reals, there’s so much to love about this whimsical piece. For me, it’s especially the scoop back and pattern. It’s giving me a more feminine Bobby Brown “Every Little Step” unitard. The boys your milkshake brought to the yard will probably be partial to the slight side boob, but this playsuit is all about fun. (motelrocks.com)

4. In the spirit of rebelling against fall, I like where the stylist’s head was at. Pairing this super cozy ASOS Ultimate Chunky Sweater With Slouchy High Neck with denim shorts is the perfect move and just screams, “I do what I want.” It goes without saying that this piece is highly versatile, and — dare I say — will transition nicely into autumn and winter. (asos.com)

5. This sweet but bold Puffed Sleeves Dress is basically everything that a gal desires in a day-to-night-worthy ensemble, and I can’t deal. It’s like a blank canvas on which you can let your personality shine through. The possibilities are endless. Happy styling!

New year, new looks! See some hot commodities for the winter chill in this week’s edition of Fancy Things Friday:

1. How’s this for a statement necklace?! Leave it to Kate Spade to create the perfect blend of style and quirk in a neck piece. This Kiss and Make Up Wink Necklace surely won’t remain in stock for long. It’s on sale, so make haste! (katespade.com)

2. Look and feel regal AF with these luxurious SHINE Velvet Ballet Pumps. The gold embellishment is simply exquisite. Wear these puppies around the house with your silkiest robe, or strut your stuff on the town. Mind the gaps and watch out for puddles. These flats are dry clean only. (topshop.com)

3. This cozy FRS Wool Midi Coat With Tie Belt is just what the doctor ordered to brave the elements this winter. Wrap yourself up tight with the tie belt and keep those fingers toasty in those deep pockets. (frontrowshop.com)

4. Yo! Zara must have been reading my mind when it designed this darling Reversible Anorak Jacket. It has all that a girl could ask for in a jacket and more. You get double the fashion for the price of one coat. Switch between navy blue and mustard yellow, and take or leave the fur hood (I personally would take it). And let’s not forget about the drawstring waist, which you can cinch to give the piece some shape. Show off that hourglass, honey! Seriously, a game changer! (zara.com)

5. Simplicity is key, and this Cotton & Wool Sweater pulls it off with ease. You can never go wrong with black and white. Layer this piece to give it some personality. Or march to the beat of your own drum and wear it as is. Either way, you’ll be stunning. (stories.com)

It’s fall, y’all! Sweater weather is upon us, and this Fancy Things Friday showcases some superb styles:

1. Feast your eyes on these ’90s Baby Velvet Platform Chunky Heels, which are surefire show-stoppers. The chunky heel and double straps provide comfort and flair, and the texture just screams of luxury. If you’re looking for a little bit of color in your life, these beauties also come in Blue, Burgundy and Mustard (on the beat tho). (gojane.com)

2. In need of a versatile carry-all? Look no further than this 116 Athletics x Will Bryant Duffel Bag. First of all, the pattern is dope. And it can function as a gym bag, overnight bag and a weekender, too. Get it while it’s hot, gang! (reach.merchline.com)

3. Wear your heart on your sleeve with this darling Petite Heart Hybrid Knitted Jumper. The delicate chiffon heart-printed sleeve made me swoon, and the ruffles are just so darn sweet. Bat your eyelashes and cozy up to the one you love in this playful sweater. (topshop.com)

4. Which brings me to my next point: Sweaters don’t have to be shapeless and bland. Au contraire, mon ami! This sassy Endless Rose Cut Out Sleeve Sweater is a prime example of a sweater with a little bit of sex appeal. The teal seals the deal, and the cable-knit? I’m here for it! (revolve.com)

5. Pull up a front-row seat to a movie of your choosing in this pullover Black Wool-blended Popcorn Sweater from Front Row Shop. A literal take on “Netflix and chill,” this sweater is all about comfort and fun — the perfect homebody frock or “casual Friday” ‘fit! (frontrowshop.com)

Get into an all-new batch of must-have goods and wares in this week’s edition of Fancy Things Friday:

1. Give these Round Cut Sandals a twirl and you’re guaranteed to be hooked. ‘Round and ’round you’ll go to destinations unknown in this fancy-free footwear. I love how the circles come together to create a faux bow look. You know those are my fave. (stories.com)

2. Add a little (or a lotta) razzle-dazzle to your look with this glitzy Anapple Clutch. This beaded miniaudiere bag is demure in stature but ornate and ostentatious in its extensive beading, jewels and chains. I’d use this clutch to accentuate a little black dress or deep V-neck jumpsuit. (aldoshoes.com)

3. How sweet is this dainty Dress With Frilled Bib Front? Perfect for resort day-lounging or — dare I say — a wedding dress for a low-maintenance bride. Since subtlety is key here, throw on a simple bar necklace and your favorite stud earrings. (zara.com)

4. This Soft Tailored Blazer Dress means business. The satin shawl collar and double-breasted buttons make this piece a force to be reckoned with. But there’s room for fun when you show off those gams of yours. Pair this dress with a killer pair of heels and thank me later. (topshop.com)

5. Hot. To. Trot. That’s what you’ll be in this stunningEntrapment Dress by Rise of Dawn. I’m all over the all-over lace fabric, and the sassy sweetheart cut bodice is giving me a serious case of the swoons. Date night, here you come! (revolve.com)

Get into an all-new batch of swoon-inducing goods and wares in this week’s Fancy Things Friday:

1. Kate! You never cease to amaze me. Shouts out to Kate Spade for singlehandedly being responsible for keeping ladies’ wrists dainty and fun throughout the years. This ‘Tiny Metro – Bow’ Leather Strap Watch in Black/Mother of Pearl is so precious, I literally. CAN. NOT. Too much sweetness to take, and if you prefer a different flavor, don’t fret because this beauty also comes in Vachetta (Pink) and Red. (nordstrom.com)

2. Greetings and salutations to Rachel Stewart, who I just discovered. You have to check out her designs! I’m crazy in love with this Two-Sided Triangle Clutch from her Rachel Stewart Jewelry imprint. Just when you thought this party-in-a-bag couldn’t get any more lit, it goes ahead and flips the switch to reveal a leopard print. That’s right! This clutch is double-sided. Double the excitement. Double the versatility! Double the props from admiring gal pals. (rachelstewartjewelry.com)

3. I thank my lucky stars for this Best Years Surplus Jacket—Lucky from Gypsy Warrior. This one’s for the girl who’s all about keeping it real, unabashedly dishing out swag and providing a smidge of spontaneity. Fingers crossed! This one’s a keeper! (gypsywarrior.com)

4. A little on the softer side, this Oh My Love Bette Davis Applique Flower Romper is darling and cute as a button. London-based label Oh My Love should be commended for its great attention to detail here, as this little number features a semi-sheer textured short-sleeve top with a banded crew-neck and short-sleeves. (urbanoutfitters.com)

5. Thanks to Topshop, I have an official “easy like Sunday morning” staple jacket. This Knit Boyfriend Jacket is for those days when you’re in need of warmth and comfort. I need it in my life. (topshop.com)

Get into another batch of “New Year New Me”-inspired (HAPPY NEW YEAR!) goods and wares in this week’s Fancy Things Friday:

1. Ghanian jewelry-maker Christie Brown knew exactly what she was doing when she made this Chinaya Bib Necklace in Canary. As an avid button enthusiast, I was immediately drawn in by the layered discs of varying ankara-esque fabrics and the yellow beaded tiers that just take the piece to a whole new level. Talk about a statement necklace! This piece also comes in Gold Coast (bronze), Citron (lime green), Flame (red) and Indigo (midnight blue). Either way, you can’t lose. (christiebrownonline.com)

2. Sometimes you just have to pause and admire excellent craftsmanship. Take for instance this Saint Wide Brimmed Hat in Navy by Loéil. This structured wool fedora fat with matching ribbon trim detail is regal and alluring. (theloeil.com)

3. This Kate Belted Shawl Collar Coat is a feminine, sassy take on the traditional trench coat, and I’m here for it. This long coat can be tied to conceal a ravishing dress or opened to call attention to the layered goodness inside. (boohoo.com)

4. Nothing says “new year new me” quite like a daring outfit. Ring in 2016 with this stunning Irina Miro Ruffled Bateau Neck Mini Dress, which shows off those sexy shoulders and collar bones and leaves room for the perfect statement necklace to shine. Minimal elegance and its finest, folks. (stylewe.com)

5. Let this MOTO Clean Shirt Dress lay the foundation for a killer look. Paired with a bright pair of ankle booties, some high-top sneakers, a suede pump or a knee-length boots, this piece can come to life in a way that shows off personality and individuality, whether on a Monday in the office or a Saturday brunch. I need this staple in my wardrobe STAT! (topshop.com)

1. Nate Dogg: Nobody does it better than Nate Dogg! Since he’s passed there’s been a major void left in music. Pay homage to the big homie who brought us hits like “Regulate,” “Never Leave Me Alone” and “I Got Love” by rocking this Nate Dogg Pin by Nowen. “Na, na, na, na, na, na!” (nowen.bigcartel.com)

2. Fall all the way into The Gap’s Mini Crossbody Bag. A little tassel never hurt no one! I’m feeling this Modern Red color, but this hot little number comes in five other shades. (gap.com)

3. Meet me in the dojo or out on the streets rocking this Harmon Jacket from Golden by TNA. Whether you’re in the mood to bring out your inner Karate Kid or want to show your fiercer side, this edgy kimono-style coat should do the trick. And the belt pulls it all together. (aritzia.com)

4. I see you bringing so much sass to fall fashion, Topshop! This Premium Fit and Flare Sweater Dress is not your mother’s sweater dress. The pattern! The silhouette! I live! Yet another top contender for a dazzling New Year’s Eve look. (topshop.com)

5. Nothing like the perfect pair of skinnies to accentuate all your curves and make you feel like a woman. These Skinny Jeans from Zara fit snugly into that territory and takes things a step further with the zipper pocket accents. I’m here for the pairing with the mustard yellow coat, too! (zara.com)

1. Show them you mean business with these elegant and ornate Jacquard Cropped Trousers from Zara. These culottes already command a lot of attention, so my plan of attack would be to pair them with a sleek blazer and pointy heel. (zara.com)

2. You can’t see the details up close, but there are dozens of tiny cacti combining their collective forces into one quaint piece. This Cactus Print Waisted Dress is perf for that flora aficionado in your life, by the way. (stories.com)

3. Why, hello! These Matisse Quake Cow Hair Oxfords are rather ostentatious. And that’s why I’m a huge fan! These shoes pack a punch and are just the right amount of quirky to liven up a plain outfit. (revolveclothing.com)

4. So much fun and surprise in such a little package. Looking straight on, this Strap Linen Top from Mango is your run-of-the-mill cropped tank. But, oh no. Pow! The back is striking with its amazing cutout and braided straps. (mango.com)

5. I appreciate the subtle sassiness found in this Cut-Out Buckle Playsuit from Topshop. Again, the cutouts are a game-changer that elevate this look to the moon and back. I see what you did here, Topshop, and I’d like lots more of it, thank you! (topshop.com)

1. Why spend a million bucks when you can look like it for a mere £35.00? This Light Pink Pearl Embellished Box Clutch is full-on regal glam, and I’m absolutely here for it. (riverisland.com)

2. These Speckled Delivery Flats are a testament to Modcloth’s versatility. The black-and-white pattern looks fun and very “summertime-y,” reminiscent of “The Flintstones,” in all honesty. And they don’t have that overtly “retro” flair, which kept me on my toes. (modcloth.com)

3. No shame in my game! I’d pair these Motel Sweat Pants in Art School Cream with some pumps and cami and call it a day for the chillest and illest ‘fit ever. (motelrocks.com)

4. Oh no … This isn’t your skort from the 1990s. Rather, this Origami Wrap Tie Skort brings a contemporary elegance to a piece not originally known for sophistication. (topshop.com)

5. My theory is, the bigger the bow, the brighter you glow! Get your shine on with this Sweet Doll Bowknot Lace Shirt, which has two things I adore: bows and lace. This blouse gives me visions of Janelle Monáe, by the way. (chicwish.com)

1. Double-scooped ice cream on waffle cones, cotton candy, poodle skirts: all things that come to mind when I see these Parade You Look! Flat in Jade. They have a certain retro Americana appeal that’s super charming. Sock hop, anyone? (modcloth.com)

2. Let this Emerald Stone Necklace do all the talking for your look. This statement necklace brings it, so there’s no need to compensate elsewhere. A simple plain white (or black) T-shirt with some dark denim and you’re good to go! (hellosupply.com)

3. These Coated Denim Jogger Pants bridge the gap (see what I did there?) between tom boy and chic, and I love every part of it. (gap.com)

4. I’m on the market for a new swimsuit, and this Pop Floral Plunge Bikini Top is a top contender. I appreciate that there’s so many possibilities for bottoms. Maybe stripes? Maybe solids? Polka dots, if you’re living dangerously? (topshop.com)

5. Speaking of living on the edge, check out this daring Hannah Multi Twist Open Back Strappy Vest, perfect for festivals, beach days and casual bike rides. (boohoo.com)
