I need more fun in my life. We all do, really. Nothing quite makes my heart smile like a good brunch shared among good company, so I thought I’d kick 2016 off with a bang by pulling some of my favorite gal pals together for a much-needed Saturday morning meal. And I’m so glad I did. It felt like it had been ages since we all hung out, so when we all convened, it was a collective breath of fresh air. We laughed a lot, got some crucial updates about everyone and, above all else, bonded. Brunch moved to the dive bar and several hours later, we didn’t want the fun to end. It made me realize how blessed I am to have such amazing women in my life. This Wednesday Word — spoken by Bohemian-Austrian poet and novelist Rainer Maria Rilke and illustrated by Patricia Ellen Ricci — is a reminder that life is all the more rich and beautiful when your world is filled with remarkable people. I can honestly say that I have crews of them. So Zita, Linda, Octavia, Lola, Briana and Free (my Long Beach clique), this one’s dedicated to you: “I am so glad that you are here. It helps me to realize how beautiful my world is.”
