Fancy Things Friday

June 23, 2017

Are you ready to get snatched for the summer? Look no further than this week’s Fancy Things Friday:

1. This Vero Moda Floral Ruffle Cut Out Swimsuit is giving me “La Isla Bonita” meets “California Girls” plus a dash of summer lovin’. There’s so much to love in such a small package: the floral print, the ruffles that give a taste of peplum and the cut-outs. I might even throw on a pair of cut-offs and a pair of bright orange heels and stunt on ’em while out on the town. Say I won’t. (asos.com)

2. If the best things come in small packages, you’ve hit the jackpot with this darling Abbie Envelope Crossbody. At 6″ x 9″ x 1″, this bag is just big enough to carry the essentials. This one’s for all the Minimalist Mandys out there. This bag also comes in Ivory and Blue (a sky-like hue) for those looking for some pizzazz. (anthropologie.com)

3. You’ll never guess what type of journey awaits with this darling Learning to Fly Navy Blue Jumpsuit. I’m into the cinched waist and flowy fabric that leads down to the elastic ankles. This piece shows just the right amount of skin with the adjustable halter back, too. This jumpsuit will have you looking flawless with minimal effort — a dainty gold necklace and an open-toed heel will go a long way in completing the look. (lulus.com)

4. Take a bite out of this juicy Orange Side Split Midi Dress, courtesy of Miss Selfridge. Something about this pop of color commands attention. The side split also helps catch eyes. I’m here for this tangy burst of flavor. Yummerz! (missselfridge.com)

5. H&M is on to something with this polka-dotted Cotton Dress. It’s a prime example of how simplicity is key to creating a classic look. What you can’t tell from this view is that there’s a cut-out section at the back with ties. Hey now! (hm.com)

Punxsutawney Phil may have seen his shadow yesterday, but I’m already prepping for six weeks of spring. Warm it up with these Fancy Things Friday finds:

1. When I say “Coa,” you say “Chella”! That’s right. This darling Best of the Fest Black and Cream Fringe Clutch has Coachella written all over it. Heck, it’s even alluded to in the product title. This dynamic little clutch is giving me all kinds of life with its bold Southwestern print and frisky fringe! (lulus.com)

2. So nice, I had to share Lulus twice! If this doesn’t scream “take me down to the paradise city,” I don’t know what will get you to see the beachy vibe woven all over this Adventure in Costa Rica Grey Straw Hat. I picture myself lounging on a white-sand beach with this number topping my crown, and a piña colada in my hand, of course. (lulus.com)

3. I’m transfixed by this brazen Amuse Society Spellbound Woven Top. This almost-tribal print is a sight to behold. (revolve.com)

4. This Blue Yoke Ruffle Pin Stripe Shirt Dress is giving me “home on the range” meets a feminine “Risky Business,” with a dash of Sunday’s best circa 1987, and I’m here for all of it! I’d pair this dainty, frilly frock with some tan or light brown cowgirl boots and a simple tote. Done and done! (missguidedus.com)

5. Now, before you run and get the red paint, you must know that this edgy De Vil Coat is shown here in all its faux-fur glory. Channel your inner (not-so) Cruella as you set out for a night of mayhem in this piece, which makes quite a statement. (nastygal.com)

Get into an all-new batch of must-have goods and wares in this week’s edition of Fancy Things Friday:

1. These Geometric Trick or Treat Black Suede Lace-Up Heels by Glamorous certainly live up to the brand’s name by giving us an extra dose of sass. The chiffon lace-up straps add flair, and don’t even get me started on the ombre rose gold block heel! Game-changer! (lulus.com)

2. Double your pleasure. Double your fun! I’m not talking about Doublemint Gum here. I’m referring to these darling two-toned Round Two-Tone Oversized Sunglasses, spotted on Genuine People. Not feeling the black and white? These bad boys also come in clear and leopard, brown and black, green and black, and blue and black. (genuine-people.com)

3. You know what it is! Make it plain by rocking this bold Pink Have My Currency Crewneck, which cleverly disguises the lyrics to that Rihanna jam that was so popular, even your mom sings along. (shop.nylon.com)

4. Stand tall in these Ruska Jeans in Mini Pinstripe Black and White by Motel. Vertical stripes elongate, so make sure you traipse all over the place with these edgy pantaloons on. I’d keep it cas(ual) and pair these jeans with an oversized sweater and a bootie. Done and done! (motelrocks.com)

5. March to the beat of your own drum with this far-out-there Love Your Shapes Tunic. The print is fun and fancy-free. Perfect for a festive Friday! (wildeunicorn.com)

Outfit of the Night: Dressed-Up Denim

July 19, 2016

This Outfit of the Night is another from the many birthday celebrations I’ve enjoyed over the past couple of weeks. Birthday month! Woop woop! My pal, Briana, treated me to dinner at The Attic in Long Beach to commemorate this new year of life. Seriously, run, don’t walk. A Flaming Hot Cheetos crumble on all the macaroni and cheeses? Yes, please! But I digress. See the full evening ensemble after the jump!

Get into an all-new batch of razzly-dazzly goods and wares in this week’s Fancy Things Friday:

1. Stop the presses! I’ve got to shout it from the rooftops how amazing this Rattle Tale Beige and Ivory Clutch from Lulu’s is! I’ve decided you just can’t go wrong with an envelope clutch. But this one is the envelope clutch to end all envelope clutches. So many things to swwon over: the snakeskin texture, the ever-so-subtle pop of gold, the hidden strap. (lulus.com)

2. “Ooh la la” and “oui oui” to these L’Éclatante Millefiori Derbies in Glitter from Bobbies Paris. Add some sunshine wherever you go with this sparkly numbers. You can’t help but smile looking at them. (bobbies.com)

3. I’ve got a sudden urge to tickle the ivories and recreate that iconic scene from “Big.” This darling Lazy Oaf Short Sleeved Shirt With Frill Hem in Piano Print is to blame. So many styling possibilities with this one, and it makes quite the statement. (asos.com)

4. You can’t tell from this photo, but there’s a wonderful surprise found on this Tie-Back Mini Dress in Blush. The bow tie back is too sweet. You know I love a good bow and cutout back. It’s also stunning in Light Olive. (forever21.com)

5. Leave it to Express to let us express ourselves. Check out this Express One Eleven Lipstick Graphic Tank, which really says it all. “If all else fails, put on bright red lipstick.” One of the tricks of the trade that always comes through. (express.com)

Get into another batch of must-have goods and wares in this week’s Fancy Things Friday:

1. RVCA has the right idea. Don’t talk about it, be about it! Look like the go-getter or girl-on-the-go that you are in this Be About It Blue Chambray Jumpsuit. Make this look your own by layering necklaces and wearing a bold heel. (lulus.com)

2. Simplicity. Major key, as my life coach, DJ Khaled, would say. This Etched Bar Necklace has it. Take the minimalist feel a step further and wear it solo. (madewell.com)

3. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think that this Ivory Floral Cut Out Sweater was a one-of-a-kind thrift store find, and I’d rejoice at the steal of an item I just found. Well, either way, I’m delighted that I found such a unique piece. I love the juxtaposition of the dainty, feminine floral appliqués against the bold ribbing found on the collar, waist and wrists. (pixiemarket.com)

December 4, 2015

1. Tuck all your essentials into this simple, sleek Kelsi Dagger Leather Envelope Clutch. If Kelsi were a human, she’d be all business at work and then the type to sip whiskey while dancing and laughing with friends until last call. (lastcall.com)

2. These boots were made for stunting, and that’s just what they’ll do. It doesn’t get any better than these Circus by Sam Edelman Black and White Leather Ankle Boots. The perfect cut, these edgy kicks combine tones and textures (I’m swooning over the black-and-white dots pattern) to make one heck of an anchor for an outfit. Get these while they’re hot, because with all this goodness wrapped into one pair of shoes, they won’t last. (lulus.com)

3. Don’t sleep on the elbow patches! Am I the only one who enjoys dressing like a middle-aged college professor from time to time? Show that you’re intelligent, quirky and fly with this tan Elbow-Patch Cotton Blazer. I’d definitely pair this jacket with some riding boots and a plaid or printed scarf. Or a slim turtleneck if I’m feeling extra proper. (mango.com)

4. That melanin tho! If you got it, flaunt it, right? Shout out to Legendary Rootz for giving us brown-skinned girls something that speaks to why we’re so awesome. Not only is this Melanin Defined Tee an informational tool, it’s a stylish conversation starter. (legendaryrootz.com)

5. The weather outside is frightful. OK, it’s not as bad as the East Coast, but it’s been a little nippy in Cali. And I just want to wrap myself up in this BP. Geometric Blanket Scarf. You know I’m all for warmth and functionality. (nordstrom.com)

1. These Quay Dream of Me Sunglasses are the quintessential sunnies that can up the quality of just about any outfit. Sophistication and swag unite. (tobi.com)

2. Put your best foot forward and get very excited about these Very Volatile Whitby Navy Suede Leather Wedge Booties. It’s the best of both worlds, really, with leather and suede working in tandem to create a fierce look. Whether you’re boot-scootin’ in these booties or tip-toeing out on the town, you’re in good hands with these numbers on your feet. (lulus.com)

3. What does the fox say? Judging from the Modcloth Outfox the Eye Scarf in Royal, it screams, “Werk, honey!” And I can’t even be mad about it. This fun accessory is one of few–and I mean few–things at the moment making me look forward to fall. (modcloth.com)

4. Turn the party out in this Simone Twist Mini Skirt. The rouching does so much for this sassy item. And I’m loving the faux-tulip hemline. Free People, you’ve done it again! (freepeople.com)

5. How perfect is this V Neck Single Button Green Blazer from Romwe? This is the type of piece that makes me want to embrace the “young professional” label and become the belle of the board room. (romwe.com)

Fancy Things Friday

July 24, 2015

1. This Fancy Things Friday is decidedly and uncharacteristically neutral. This Camel Floppy Hat from Love Culture is a prime example of the versatility offered by a natural shade. (loveculture.com)

2. I would totally take out this Nasty Gal x Nila Anthony Take Out Vegan Leather Bag for a test drive on any given night on the town. Think of how much stuff you could fit inside this clever container! Not to mention, it’s pretty darn cute. Get ready for the endless barrage of “I love your bag! Where’d you get it?” (nastygal.com)

3. I’m all for the boxy and breezy One and the Same Beige Two-Piece Dress, which really is a misnomer because it’s two separate pieces. Semantics. There’s nothing wrong with a little belly peeking out, and the subdued hue leaves plenty of room for improvisation with the accessories. (lulus.com)

4. Channel your inner flower child with this stunning Motel Yulia Shift Dress in White Sunflower Lace. There’s something undeniably mod/1960s about this dress, which will certainly bring out your classic inner beauty. Simplicity is key here, gals. (motelrocks.com)

5. Turn up the heat on your office wear with this Sleeveless D-Ring Wrap Jumpsuit in Grey, and then turn right around and head to happy hour with friends at the end of your workday. Commit fully to the seriously stylish piece by rocking it with a killer pair of heels. (missguidedus.com)

1. Make a statement with this vibrant New Print Clutch. I love a piece that tells a story, and this bag certainly paints a picture. Let the clutch do all the talking for your look by going the monochromatic route. (frontrowshop.com)

2. These Harpoon Wrap Sandals have an undeniable vintage feel. In fact, they would be perfect paired with a retro sundress. (freepeople.com)

3. “Yabba dabba dooo!” White Fox Boutique effortlessly channels your favorite prehistoric pals with this Pebbles & Bam Bam Shirt Dress. I wouldn’t dare break up the awesomeness of this print by adding a belt, but I’d keep the playful vibe going by adding some colorful, strappy sandals. (whitefoxboutique.com)

4. Rise up to the challenge of all the rivals in this ultra swanky Eye Of The Tiger Satin Bomber Jacket. And the only accessory you’ll need is confidence, you survivor, you because you can’t not be fierce with this jacket on. (pixiemarket.com)

5. Date night it up while channeling your inner Jessica Rabbit with this vivacious, sultry Passion for Fashion Backless Black Maxi Dress. “You’re welcome,” is what we say to the lucky guy on your arm. (lulus.com)
