Fancy Things Friday

September 22, 2017

This Fancy Things Friday is in the spirit of protesting the impending start of autumn. Fall Equinox has decided to rear its head and, frankly, I’m not here for it! Get into my last-bit-of-summer looks:

1. Bonita Applebum, you gotta put these Bonita Drop Earrings on. These dainty yet daring earrings feature fringe and a pop of gold, and will add a little flavor to an outfit in need of some oomph. Lucky for you, if you’re not feeling the Yellow ones pictured, they come in a variety of hues, including Cobalt Blue, Fuchsia, Orange and Blush. Talk about fringe benefits. (

2. These sophistifunky AVA Gem Slingback Shoes are just what the doctor ordered — a burst of sunshine, a la Vitamin D, with a touch of class, thanks to the gemstones. Try these bad boys in black for a more city chic appeal. (

3. The ’90s called and said, “This Acro Unitard in Abstract Floral by Motel is da bomb diggety!” For reals, there’s so much to love about this whimsical piece. For me, it’s especially the scoop back and pattern. It’s giving me a more feminine Bobby Brown “Every Little Step” unitard. The boys your milkshake brought to the yard will probably be partial to the slight side boob, but this playsuit is all about fun. (

4. In the spirit of rebelling against fall, I like where the stylist’s head was at. Pairing this super cozy ASOS Ultimate Chunky Sweater With Slouchy High Neck with denim shorts is the perfect move and just screams, “I do what I want.” It goes without saying that this piece is highly versatile, and — dare I say — will transition nicely into autumn and winter. (

5. This sweet but bold Puffed Sleeves Dress is basically everything that a gal desires in a day-to-night-worthy ensemble, and I can’t deal. It’s like a blank canvas on which you can let your personality shine through. The possibilities are endless. Happy styling!

Fancy Things Friday

June 23, 2017

Are you ready to get snatched for the summer? Look no further than this week’s Fancy Things Friday:

1. This Vero Moda Floral Ruffle Cut Out Swimsuit is giving me “La Isla Bonita” meets “California Girls” plus a dash of summer lovin’. There’s so much to love in such a small package: the floral print, the ruffles that give a taste of peplum and the cut-outs. I might even throw on a pair of cut-offs and a pair of bright orange heels and stunt on ’em while out on the town. Say I won’t. (

2. If the best things come in small packages, you’ve hit the jackpot with this darling Abbie Envelope Crossbody. At 6″ x 9″ x 1″, this bag is just big enough to carry the essentials. This one’s for all the Minimalist Mandys out there. This bag also comes in Ivory and Blue (a sky-like hue) for those looking for some pizzazz. (

3. You’ll never guess what type of journey awaits with this darling Learning to Fly Navy Blue Jumpsuit. I’m into the cinched waist and flowy fabric that leads down to the elastic ankles. This piece shows just the right amount of skin with the adjustable halter back, too. This jumpsuit will have you looking flawless with minimal effort — a dainty gold necklace and an open-toed heel will go a long way in completing the look. (

4. Take a bite out of this juicy Orange Side Split Midi Dress, courtesy of Miss Selfridge. Something about this pop of color commands attention. The side split also helps catch eyes. I’m here for this tangy burst of flavor. Yummerz! (

5. H&M is on to something with this polka-dotted Cotton Dress. It’s a prime example of how simplicity is key to creating a classic look. What you can’t tell from this view is that there’s a cut-out section at the back with ties. Hey now! (

May 20, 2016

This Fancy Things Friday features some springtime essentials:

1. ASOS flipped the script with these darling Leonie Square Ballet Flats by going against the expected rounded or pointed toe. The bright Orange color is exactly what’s missing from my spring-to-summer wardrobe, too. All the more reason to cop! (

2. What’s not to love about these Black Patterned Sunglasses from H&M? I’m especially partial to the gold bar resting across the top. But you knew that already. Subtle yet stunning, I’d rock these shades any day. (

3. Simplicity is key with this Lauren 3/4 Sleeve Curved Hem Bodycon Dress. If you’re looking for some color, this dress also comes in Black, Olive, Peach, Teal, Wine (red) and Sky (blue). This is prime for summertime stuntin’. Pair this dress with a strappy heel and a colorful clutch. (

4. This Lala Peplum Top by House of Ubuhle can really put some pep in a girl’s step. First off, the V cut screams “va-va-va-voom” and is perfect for a date night. Secondly, the pattern and silhouette are all about sophistication. I, personally, would rock this with a black pencil skirt. (

5. I never understood why people paid so much money to look like they literally rolled out of bed … Until now. This 1 AM Dress is so chic and stylish that I almost don’t mind the $130 (US dollars) price tag for the tousled threads. The knot detail really brings the look home! (

Fancy Things Friday

May 6, 2016

This Fancy Things Friday is all about black-and-white statement pieces with a pop of color:

1. When Madewell’s Tassle Time Earrings come out to play, you know it’s party time. The little bursts of fringe are nothing more than a fun adornment for your ears, but I’m here for all of its whimsy. Be sure to pull your hair up to ensure that these earrings get their due shine. (

2. Stop the presses! As a matter of fact, these ASOS Publisher High Heels are bright and edgy enough to stop traffic. I can’t put my finger on it, but these open-toed heels put me in a New York state of mind. I picture Carrie Bradshaw strutting down Park Avenue in these faux suede gems hailing a cab. (

3. Talk about deep cuts! This Inesa Polka Dot Sheer Black Chiffon and Devore Maxi Dress boasts an unabashed plunging neckline and enough razzle-dazzle to make a best-dressed list for the Met Gala, if properly accessorized. Who knew polka dots could get so sassy? (

4. You can’t tell me this Crepe Skirt Overlay Aztec Romper in White isn’t festival-worthy. It’s giving me bohemian chic in a way that makes me want to twirl (that’s where the skirt overlay comes in nicely) and sway barefoot on an open field. Who’s on board? (

5. Being bad never looked so good. Ladies, take note. This Lara High Neck Crop Top in Stripe Lace Black by Motel is the epitome of badass with a touch of class. Bonus points because I’ve never met a scalloped hemline that I didn’t like. (

1. Stop the presses! I’ve got to shout it from the rooftops how amazing this Rattle Tale Beige and Ivory Clutch from Lulu’s is! I’ve decided you just can’t go wrong with an envelope clutch. But this one is the envelope clutch to end all envelope clutches. So many things to swwon over: the snakeskin texture, the ever-so-subtle pop of gold, the hidden strap. (

2. “Ooh la la” and “oui oui” to these L’Éclatante Millefiori Derbies in Glitter from Bobbies Paris. Add some sunshine wherever you go with this sparkly numbers. You can’t help but smile looking at them. (

3. I’ve got a sudden urge to tickle the ivories and recreate that iconic scene from “Big.” This darling Lazy Oaf Short Sleeved Shirt With Frill Hem in Piano Print is to blame. So many styling possibilities with this one, and it makes quite the statement. (

4. You can’t tell from this photo, but there’s a wonderful surprise found on this Tie-Back Mini Dress in Blush. The bow tie back is too sweet. You know I love a good bow and cutout back. It’s also stunning in Light Olive. (

5. Leave it to Express to let us express ourselves. Check out this Express One Eleven Lipstick Graphic Tank, which really says it all. “If all else fails, put on bright red lipstick.” One of the tricks of the trade that always comes through. (

1. What better way to let them know that you are a gift than to rock this baller Quela Gold Ring, with the most darling bow detail. This dazzling piece is the perfect accessory for a cocktail party dress. (

2. Picasso, baby! How rad is this Paint Palette Clutch from the rommydebommy Etsy shop? It’s a full-on party that’s a prime piece for self-expression. Wear this clutch with a sleek, subtle black dress or run wild with patterns. Either way, you’ll be great. (

There’s lots to love about these pantaloons, but I’m partial to the stripes, which elongate. Crucial for vertically challenged ladies like me. They just scream for a pop of color. Anything would work, really. Play around. Try something new. (

5. Be still my heart! I’m having genuine feels for this Genuine People Red Fit + Flare Velvet Mini Dress. Glad to see that crushed velvet is making a comeback! “What is this? Velvet?” You already know! (

Get into another batch of gotta-have-it goods and wares in this week’s Fancy Things Friday:

1. I’ve fallen and I CAN get up … and head on over to ASOS to get my paws on these dazzling Head Over Heels Lou Lou Embellished Pointed Flat Shoes. These little gems are the perfect accompaniment to a subtle swing dress or any outfit in need of a good dose of flash. I can just see the jewel stones sparkling underneath a faux fur-collared coat. (

2. I think Beyoncé was talking about these earrings when she sang, “I love you like XO.” Or maybe not, but these XO Stud Earrings in 14K Gold Vermeil by Bing Bang are enough to make me want to sing from the rooftops. Also, the name of this shop says it all: You will lust, covet and desire all the things inside. I mean all of them. You’ve been warned! (

3. This isn’t your hippy mother’s version of flower power. That’s for sure. This quaint Flower Power Tee is simple, sweet and sassy. Mix a little sugar and spice by pairing this darling tee with a leather skirt, a la the model in the photo, or layering it with a collared blush long sleeve. (

4. Would you be ready to walk in a winter wonderland in this Pink Grey Lapel Pockets Woolen Coat? I know I would! I absolutely adore the interior striped lining detail and the way this trifecta of hues works. I would rock this with a statement sweater layered with a black-and-white striped collared shirt, some rolled boyfriend jeans and a dainty pair of flats. (

5. I just met you but I already love you, Jenny! This Jennifer Glasgow Kazan Dress is a fit-and-flare number with a pleated combo insert in a Japanese crosshatch print. It dares to be different and I’m here for it! (

1. Snap! Crackle! Pop! And all the other forms of onomatopoeia because these Jadyn Sneakers in Black/White Crackle deserve all the sound effects. All of them. These kicks, courtesy of Circus by Sam Edelman, are all kinds of big-top fun. (

2. That cool, refreshing drink! (Try it with your friends!) Shout out to P&C Poolside for thinking up the most exciting and ultra-specific pins to spice up my life. The latest on my radar is this Boba Tea Enamel Lapel Pin. I just wanna drink in all the awesomeness that is the delicious Tapioca ball-laced beverage. (

3. This New Look Denim Longline Tee is, in a word, perfect. The longer hem in the back is an added element of surprise, and the cuffed sleeves up the charm factor. Chambray all day! (

4. What better way to ring in cardigan weather than with this Women’s Lapel Cardigan with Prints from Open Sky. I can see myself adding some pizzazz to my business casual ensemble or stepping out on the town with this fun piece. A great item for layering! (

5. This Classic Cable Knit Sweater makes the concept of a winter wonderland bearable–and rather stylish. The intricate cable-knit pattern will have people guessing if it came from Bloomingdales, but this can be our little secret. Once again, Forever 21 offers a sophisticated take on a staple piece (and for fewer pennies!). (

4. Absolutely stunning is how I would describe this glamorous, sleek Jarlo High Neck Maxi Dress With Open Back and Frill Detail. The high collar, bow, open back and peplum? Perfection! (

5. It’s not hard to see why the The Abstract Pant slays. It takes something as commonplace as a black copped pant and cranks it to a level 10 with the dropped crotch and tie waist. Sophistication, comfort and ease at its finest. I’m here for all of it, AYR (All Year Round). (

1. Check out this treacherous trio of edgy Saber Rings. Liven up any outfit with these dainty accessories, in a trifecta of colors: yellow gold, white gold and rose gold. The best part is you can wear as many or as few of these jagged little pills as you wish, pointed up or downward. (

2. These stunning ASOS SCORE Heels are quite the find. I think I’ve hit the jackpot with these simple, sleek go-to suede heels with cut-away sides. (

3. Wear this cozy pullover on a chill night with the squad because it’s nothing but crew love with this Lace Crew Neck Sweater! The burgundy panels pop under the grey sweater and add an element of surprise with this unconventional color combination. It’s a little bit of fire, ice and everything nice. (
