Fancy Things Friday

June 23, 2017

Are you ready to get snatched for the summer? Look no further than this week’s Fancy Things Friday:

1. This Vero Moda Floral Ruffle Cut Out Swimsuit is giving me “La Isla Bonita” meets “California Girls” plus a dash of summer lovin’. There’s so much to love in such a small package: the floral print, the ruffles that give a taste of peplum and the cut-outs. I might even throw on a pair of cut-offs and a pair of bright orange heels and stunt on ’em while out on the town. Say I won’t. (asos.com)

2. If the best things come in small packages, you’ve hit the jackpot with this darling Abbie Envelope Crossbody. At 6″ x 9″ x 1″, this bag is just big enough to carry the essentials. This one’s for all the Minimalist Mandys out there. This bag also comes in Ivory and Blue (a sky-like hue) for those looking for some pizzazz. (anthropologie.com)

3. You’ll never guess what type of journey awaits with this darling Learning to Fly Navy Blue Jumpsuit. I’m into the cinched waist and flowy fabric that leads down to the elastic ankles. This piece shows just the right amount of skin with the adjustable halter back, too. This jumpsuit will have you looking flawless with minimal effort — a dainty gold necklace and an open-toed heel will go a long way in completing the look. (lulus.com)

4. Take a bite out of this juicy Orange Side Split Midi Dress, courtesy of Miss Selfridge. Something about this pop of color commands attention. The side split also helps catch eyes. I’m here for this tangy burst of flavor. Yummerz! (missselfridge.com)

5. H&M is on to something with this polka-dotted Cotton Dress. It’s a prime example of how simplicity is key to creating a classic look. What you can’t tell from this view is that there’s a cut-out section at the back with ties. Hey now! (hm.com)

Fancy Things Friday

May 12, 2017

Spring is in full swing and this batch of Fancy Things Friday is finds proof:

1. The Golden State is home for me. From America’s Finest City (San Diego) to Santa Barbara, to the Bay Area to Los Angeles, it’s full of so many places that have stolen a piece of my heart. These quaint California State Earrings from Seoul Little are the perfect tribute to the greatest state of them all, IMHO. They’re on back order but they’re well worth the wait. (azaleasf.com)

2. Mustard yellow has always been my jam! These Twiggy Sunglasses are all the more reason to love the warm, sunny hue. Step out into the spotlight with these daringly darling shades. (anthropologie.com)

3. This Esra Lace Ruffle Blouse just screams of style and grace, and there’s no wrong way to wear this ladylike piece. I can envision slayage on the horizon when paired with high-waisted denim, a pencil skirt or even a cigarette pant. Hop to it, gals! (storets.com)

4. What’s knot to love about this chic Tie Front Cotton Top? Again, the bright hue hits a home run. Even better, this blouse will kill at work or out on the town. (warehouse-london.com)

5. It takes a brave soul to don a full-on pajama shirt in the light of day. That’s why you’ll be looked at as a hero in this smart Hero Top in White by Creatures of Comfort. (needsupply.com)

Fancy Things Friday

March 3, 2017

This Fancy Things Friday is all about the subtle slay, with an assortment of pieces that take a look to an all-new level:

1. Gals, not only is ombre killer on hair — it also suits jewelry quite well. Exhibit A: this stunning Ombre Chain Necklace that gracefully runs the spectrum from gold to black. Definitely one of my favorite color combos, black and gold are a match made in heaven. Spread the love by pairing this necklace with a daring all-black jumpsuit. (missselfridge.com)

2. Turn a basic tee into a timeless look, with this darling Montana Square Scarf. The fringed hem and mélange of patterns make this piece a win-win on all sides. (anthropologie.com)

3. This Scale Top is giving me Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons, with a touch of Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman. Needless to say, it’s fierce AF. Stunt heavy on ’em in this top, paired with a pencil skirt or a tapered cigarette pant and a stiletto heel. Perfection! (shopakira.com)

4. Cozy up to this luxurious Oversized Sweater from Genuine People. The red color is powerful, but the piece also comes in off-white, if you’re more mellow. A sweater like this is key in transitioning from winter to spring, as it’s perfect for layering. (genuine-people.com)

5. Ty Hunter, stylist to Beyoncé, makes his foray into fashion design with his athleisure line, Ty Hunter by Reflex. Honestly, every single piece (I’m talking all 23 of them!) in this line is a must-have, but this Reflex Maritza Pencil Skirt (and matching Reflex Tina Crop Top, of course) stole a piece of my heart. The stripes set in different directions adds a dimension of playfulness that I can get into on the way to the gym or even out on the town. (six02.com)

Get into an all-new batch of must-have goods and wares in this week’s edition of Fancy Things Friday:

1. These Tera Stiletto Heels in Red Faux Suede are super sassy. I’m talking Rick James and Teena Marie “Fire and Desire” sassy. The cutouts on these shoes are a hit, and the gold heel adds a pop of added flair. (publicdesire.com)

2. Kudos to Mango for making this Small Knot Bag happen. It’s petite but it packs a punch stylistically with the knot and chain. The nude color makes this bad boy versatile, so while this bag plays the background, feel free to jazz it up with a bold eye or bright lip. Knotty by nature, amirite?! (mango.com)

3. I’m all wrapped up in the subtleties found in this darling Katie Wrap Detail Shift Dress. The asymmetrical hemline is playful, and this Blush piece is a prime candidate for a day-to-night look. For work, I’d rock a dainty charm necklace and D’orsay flat with this dress, then at night, set things off with a statement necklace, cropped moto jacket and a leather bootie. But the world is your oyster. (boohoo.com)

4. Strut your stuff in these vibrant Pixie Mid-Rise Ankle Pants in Robbie Red. The color just screams summertime madness, and the cut is just begging for a funky pair of flats. Leopard prints, stripes, polka dots and cutouts would work well there. Run wild! (oldnavy.com)

5. This Primula Cocoon Cardigan by Moth looks uber-cozy. It’s perfect for a chill night in and is a great layering opportunity. (anthropologie.com)

Get into an all-new batch of must-have goods and wares in this week’s edition of Fancy Things Friday:

1. The writer in me did a full-fledged soft shoe upon discovering these Rafaella flats from Loly in the Sky. The quotation marks one the toes spark whimsy and curiosity. Mark my words, these sweet flats will be mine. (lolyinthesky.com)

2. Live on the edge — literally and figuratively — with this Splendid Girl Pleather Mix Jacket. With a blend of ponte knit mixes and sleek faux leather, this moto jacket provided texture and spunk. The asymmetrical zipper and a cowl-neck collar show that you are spontaneous looker who marches to the beat of your own drum. Zig and zag with abandon, lovey! (splendid.com)

3. It’s prime white party season, and you’ll be the belle of the ball with this daring Strapless Popover Jumpsuit. I love that it’s tight in all the right places but offers plenty of movement with the flouncy bodice. Show off those clavicles, cutie! And feel free to go big with the accessories, ’cause this blank canvas is ripe with styling opportunities. (nordstrom.com)

4. It’s Friday! Treat yo self to some fine leather goods. Look no further than this dainty Kelsi Dagger Brooklyn Mini Crossbody Bag. Secure the bag, as Khaled advises, with the lock and key feature, which is a pleasant surprise. What a novel concept! (anthropologie.com)

5. I just can’t get enough of bare shoulders lately. I mean, it is summer, after all. If you feel the same way, then you’ll adore this Ribbed 2 Ways To Wear Off The Shoulder Sweater a la Express. You can wear it with the zipper in the front or back. Either way, you’re golden … or Rose Blush, as in another hue this darling top comes in. Or go with Pitch Black for a sophisticated vibe. Get into this swoon-worthy batch of goods and wares in this week’s edition of Fancy Things Friday:

1. These All Black Fishscale Flats are really all white, but that’s quite all right. Now I’m totally in the know that fishscale texture is a thing (where do they come up with this stuff?!), and I’m here for all of it. There’s a distinct retro vibe to these flats that’s got me craving batwing sweaters and acid wash denim. (anthropologie.com)

2. What happens when you fuse grit with glamour? You get these daring Logan Gold Stud Earrings in Platinum Drusy. Simple yet so complex, these earrings will elevate any look. (kendrascott.com)

3. Textures and patterns and warmth. Oh my! Could this Knit Sweater in Pink Melange be any more perfect? The sleeves are long and puffy, almost reminiscent of a Victorian-era blouse, and the knit pattern just screams “fun times.” Pretty in pink, for realsies! (hm.com)

4. Carefree and flowy, this lovely Petites Ivory Spot Wrap Dress is a reminder that spring is on the horizon. I’d pair this piece with some espadrilles, a floppy hat or a wool fedora (you know — play with fabrics), an oversized clutch and a delicate charm necklace. Wear this one to a park picnic with the boo wop or an upscale brunch with the gals. The world is your oyster! (missselfridge.com)

5. Show off those gams and make the boys blush with this Thigh Hi And Hello Curved Hem Dress in Blush. This GoJane creation is a game-changer. I’ve never seen a bodycon-esque dress with a curved hem. It hugs all the right curves and helps put your best leg forward, if you catch my drift 😉 (gojane.com)

Get into another batch of must-have goods and wares in this week’s Fancy Things Friday:

1. Life is but a dream and dreams sure do come true. This White T-Shirt With In My Dreams Print is quite charming and, dare I say, dreamy. The perfect casual top for the daydream believer in us all. (chicnova.com)

2. This Craig Large Carrying Case from Delfonics is a roomy pouch that can be used to hold a 13-inch laptop, a portfolio of documents and other work essentials. But wait; there’s more! You can wear this bright bundle as a clutch. With hues like orange (pictured), dark blue and mint, this carrying case can be worked into just about any look. Can’t wait to wrap my paws around this clutch! (store.dwell.com)

3. Look at the penguins! They’re tiny and fun. Like little tuxedoed men about town. This Conversationalist Buttondown by Maeve is certainly a conversation starter, and would add the right amount of oomph layered under your staple winter coat. (anthropologie.com)

4. Way to bring it with this Cheetah Print Dress, & Other Stories. Now this is a black and blue that I can fully condone! There are so many possibilities with this dashing dress — with or without the belt, avec ou sans culottes — all of which are lovely. (stories.com)

5. New on my radar is Shabby Apple, a purveyor of elegant dresses for all occasions. Take for instance this Nutcracker Dress in black, which is giving me serious “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” vibes but also would kill at a gala or anniversary dinner. There’s nothing shabby about this chic piece. (shabbyapple.com)

Get into another batch of gotta-have-it Christmas-inspired (MERRY CHRISTMAS!) goods and wares in this week’s Fancy Things Friday:

1. In the words of my boys Hall and Oates, “It’s you and me forever.” Yes, this Sarah half sequined clutch will have you smiling and rejoicing in the fact that it makes for a splendid staple night-out purse. Not too much sparkle but lots of versatility (peep the removable crossbody strap). I think she’ll make several appearances this Christmas and well into the new year. (thegooddanger.com)

2. Move over, blue suede shoes. There’s a new diva in town and it goes by the name of Belanger Loafers, thanks to the incomparable Jeffrey Campbell. These red suede numbers just scream “Christmas cheer.” Spread it with each step you take, be it at a holiday party, New Year’s Eve bash or on your first day of work in 2016, ’cause, hey, who says bright shoes are only for the last two weeks of the year? Not feeling so flashy? These kicks also come in (a pale-ish) pink, navy and grey. (shopbop.com)

3. Did I just transport back to the Gatsby-art deco era or what? This gorgeous vintage-inspired Gold Crochet Dress has me wanting to hear live jazz at a speakeasy as I sip on some absinthe. But more likely, you can find me wearing this exquisite floral-detailed dress as I wait for the ball drop. (modandsoul.com)

4. If variety is the spice of life, then the earrings found in this Posts Parade Set are the equivalent of a kicked-up gingerbread cookie: sweet yet spicy. They’re all quite darling, but my personal fave is the large crystal cluster, which adds a lovely bit of holiday sparkle to any outfit. (anthropologie.com)

5. Now that it’s officially winter, let’s not be shy about rocking those cold-weather pieces. This White Black Geometric Printed Scarf can warm my neck and enhance my ‘fit any day of the week. I’d love to see just how many different prints I could pull off while wearing this accessory, a la the legendary Iris Apfel. (genuine-people.com)

2. I’m fascinated by how something so simple can be so elegant. I’m referring to these subdued Schutz Pearled Darussa Flats, which look like they’re made for royalty. It all makes sense when you consider Schutz’s mantra, “living for pleasure.” (anthropologie.com)

3. Turn the arguably worst day of the week into a party with this dashing Cheap Monday Tee Dress. No frills here. Just a wide-rib mock neck and straight, loose fit. Just use the signature print as motivation for all those checks you’re gonna be cashing in the future. (luckyshops.com)

4. Whether you’re ready to hit the gym or hit the club, this Banded Crop Tank in rusted burgundy will make you look like a superstar. I’m thinking dual-textured moto pants to bring the look full circle. (madewell.com)

5. Keep it carefree with these darling ASOS Pleated Culottes In Mono Chevron Print. (asos.com)
