The uniform: You already know that red, white and blue are protocol for Independence Day! I kept my look casual with what I’ve termed “patriotic polka dots.” See the full outfit after the jump, my fellow Americans!
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17
What a glorious Southern California day the Fourth of July was! I wore this ensemble rife with touches of this triple threat of colors for a low-key Independence Day celebration. Because this blue-and-white polka-dot tunic-esque top is on the longer side, with three-quarter sleeves, I feel like that gave me license to go a little shorter with the bottom half of my outfit. And of course the hot pants would be red! I had to throw into the mix some of my favorite thrifted pieces: the white Calico woven flats with gold accents and the red woven handbag with gold clasps (both which I believe were gifted to me by my bestie, Yvette). To tie to look together, I wore the round, gold earrings and the gaudy button that just screams “‘Merica!” But in all seriousness, I’m proud to be American, who lives in the land of the free, home of the brave. While there are so many things happening right now that are dividing the nation, it was nice to feel that — if only for one day — there was a collective day of unity. God bless America!
