This Outfit of the Day features a magnificent maxi skirt handmade from yards upon yards of fabric that my pal Kelly bestowed upon me. For some reason the pattern makes me think of a partridge in a pear tree. In any event, this skirt is pretty boss and I predict it will be in heavy rotation this autumn. See the full summer-to-fall frock after the jump!
“Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.” Proverbs 11:28
Shout out to my sissy Ayesha, who’s the real MVP for sewing this magnificent maxi skirt. The pattern of the fabric is bold with rich colors, and a healthy smattering of birds and leaves. All the foliage reminded me of the Bible verse above about leaves thriving. Those are #lifegoals. And I’ll think of that verse every time I put this one-of-a-kind maxi skirt on. What’s not to love about this luxurious, vibrant skirt? It’s made of a thick fabric, but it has some movement, as evidenced by the shot of it swaying in the wind. It makes me feel tall, regal even. Underneath, I’m wearing my strappy, chunky open-toed heels, which provide some elevation. My 5-foot-3 frame would have this gem dragging on the floor, and we can’t have that! Since the print is loud enough, I paired the skirt with a black scoop-back crop top, a dainty gold envelope necklace from My Kitsch and some simple gold stud earrings. The envelope clutch (one of my favorite thrift finds as of late) ties it all together with the gold bar accent. As usual, I’m digging the contrast of the brick in the alleyway with the bright, colorful outfit. On this particular day, I was all dressed up with nowhere to go, but this look will work well on a date night, or modified with a flat sandal around the office or to church. Versatility, y’all!
