Outfit of the Day: Pinot Noir

March 8, 2016

Temecula Wine Country provides a lovely backdrop for this Outfit of the Day. While awaiting a friends’ arrival for a birthday celebration a while back at Wilson Creek Winery, I seized the opportunity to a few good naps in and I loved every minute of it. You know I had to! See the full look after the jump!

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

This outfit is all-black with touches of color with the darling yet bold red flats and the matching red lip, as well as the black-and-white almost-houndstooth-print coat. Thus, I’d like to call this look “Pinot Noir” (*cues Titus Andromedon’s song from “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”). On the subject of wine, I’m reminded of the metaphor that Jesus uses to describe himself as the true vine. When I’m connected to Him, my life feels on track and I can see the tangible ways that I’m bearing fruit. Amid His creation at the winery — the sun was shining and the sky was extra blue — I felt His presence in an unusual way. As I glanced at the withered branches of the grapevines off in the distance, it brought to mind that He is the source of everything. The rows and rows of those vines were parched, just aching for a drink of water. We can be a lot like those branches. Thankfully, all it takes is a touch from God to bring you back to life. Stay thirsty, my friends!
