Kitchen Diaries: Sloppy Joes

When’s the last time you had a Sloppy Joe? I know, right?! It’s been quite some time since I feasted on that time-honored union of saucy meat and toasted buns. Honestly, having eaten more than my share of them during my childhood, I vowed never to have one again — or at least not for a long, long time. But feeling a bit nostalgic, I decided to give the Joes a go.

I livened things up a bit by topping it with a slice of American cheese and a mound of steak fries (topped with a pinch or two of seasoning salt). The whole wheat buns were a healthier-but-still-tasty option.

And, yes, it definitely lived up to its name. Ah, Sloppy Joe, it’s good to have you back.

    I remember those Sloppy Joes back in the day! You are Robert practically grew up on them with Hamburger Helper!
