Get Your Mind Right

February 6, 2013

My thought life is all over the place these days. One second I’m concerned about financial burdens, the next I’m daydreaming about meeting the love of my life. One moment I’m reflecting on the countless blessings God’s bestowed upon me, the next I’m harping on that jerk who cut me off on the way to work. I’m a mess, but I’m only human. And, most importantly, I’m working on it.

I’ve been doing the “Soul Detox” Bible study through the You Version app, as facilitated by the women over at She Reads Truth, and it’s making me aware of all sorts of “toxic” thoughts. Knowing is half the battle, right? In addition to breaking down my mental walls, I’ve been meditating on a few Scriptures pertaining to our thinking:

‣ “Commit your works to the Lord and your thoughts will be established.” Proverbs 16:3

‣ “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7

‣ “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

‣ “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8

‣ “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4,5

I just know that as I begin to shift my thoughts, my world will shift in a more positive direction, as a result.
