Found Objects: Street Art on the Westside and Long Beach

August 20, 2015

All we need is love, right?! Well, this piece found in Culver City serves up plenty of it. I discovered this gem one morning on the way to work, when Waze navigated me down a random side street. I was so struck by this wall that I had to stop and capture a photo of it.

In this Found Objects post, you’ll see some of street art on the Westside of L.A. and around my ‘hood in Long Beach. Get into it after he jump!

Another mural that took me by surprise was this piece in Santa Monica. I mean, skulls aren’t really my thing (they’re kinda morbid and all), but I appreciate the bright colors.

Meanwhile, back in Long Beach, I happened upon some dope alley pieces. This first one is an underwater scene in which an elephant and a whale coexist. What it symbolizes, I don’t know. But I have to acknowledge the talent here. Do you see how the artist captures the sunlight bouncing off the water?

Fun fact about this mural right here: It once a completely different piece, but has since been revamped. Take a look at its earlier iteration here and spot the differences. I must admit, I’m a fan of the piece in its current state. Love that the hands form a heart!
